Role purpose:
The Business Development Manager is accountable for delivering sustainable new and existing key free trade cash growth over across the area. They will need to understand the whole solution of a customer and think of the customer’s complete food offering in relation to supporting the development of the business strategy ensuring full commercial thinking. They will need to be self-confident with a desire to work in a truly excited and challenging environment. As a BDM you will need to understand and influence significant customer business requirements and work with the wider Bidfresh Limited team to deliver a full proposition to provide a service winning solution.

This role includes:
- Identify and develop significant profitable business with new customers in order to increase market share and size of the market within the region in line with the regional business strategy
- Maximise new and existing key account profitability by skilfully utilising most recent technology to develop profitable sales growth in line with or above the sales & profit targets
- Produce comprehensive and insightful profit studies in able to formulate customer contracts outlining specific terms of agreement
- Identify, design and develop a sales proposition that is aligned to the customer’s needs and objectives
- Maintain a live prospect data base of accounts that have the potential to significantly impact the business growth
- Mentor and support Sales Managers within the team
- Provide accurate and timely information and feedback to management and other business areas to ensure we can provide a continued level of service to our customers and utilise opportunities for growth.
- Monthly reporting on sales performance against budget and reporting on variances putting action plans in place if necessary
- Facilitate and influence communication and activity at a high level with customers, suppliers and teams to ensure delivery of profit margins and maximise marketing and telesales call centre activity
- Ensure that good management practice and all processes are followed in order to ensure the health and safety of our employees and customers
Required skills:
- Relevant Sales qualifications or business qualification to A level standard or equivalent
- Proven track record in developing profitable significant key accounts
- Proven track record in big new business wins
- Demonstration of developing big contracts and implementing terms of agreement
- Relationship and account management to a high level of professionalism and effectiveness Astute commercial background with the ability to balance customer needs, food trends and profitability
- Customer driven with a collaborative and hands-on approach
- Exceptional selling and influencing/negotiation/presentation skills
- Ability to think and act in a commercial way that makes sustainable profit
- An analytic approach to seek out and optimise trading opportunities
- Thorough knowledge and understanding of, our marketplace and the food industry generally
- Key decision maker with regards to winning new business v retention and growth of existing accounts
- Actively contributes to wider business strategies
- Understands the external business environment and the potential impacts of competition
- Current driving licence and ability to work across the region as required for customer base
