About the Role
The Transport Manager is accountable for the operations of the transport department in accordance with budgetary constraints, legal compliance of ensuring that department works within the legal frame of transport legislation, Health and Safety, Food Safety and Environment legislation; whilst achieving the best possible level of service to internal and external customers. You should execute direction and coordination of all transportation matters within the department ensuring that budgets are managed, schedules & routes are organised, provide leadership and motivation to team which in turn facilitates achievement of KPI targets. To ensure that excellence in customer service is achieved at all times. As a Transport Manager you need to make sure that vehicles are safe and meet legal requirements, and making sure that drivers are aware of their duties in line relation to our company policies and ensure they are aware of legislation requirements.
You’ll have:
- Previous management experience within a fast moving transport environment.
- Previous experience with planning, distribution software
- Proven ability to lead and motivate transport teams, with excellent people management and employee relation skills
- Have excellent communication skills both written and verbal.
- Have thorough working knowledge of transport, Food Safety, Health and Safety and Environmental legislation.
- Be able to work with agreed budgets on cost and headcount.
- Be a professional manager with inspirational, motivation and management skills.
- Be proactive and visualise the bigger picture.
- Be a team player within the peer and able to offer ideas and solutions to improve service to our Customers
Desirable:
- Experience in being named on an Operator’s Licence
- Transport Manger CPC
